The Bamberg Symphony Orchestral Academy training programme lasts two years. While on the course trainees will receive a monthly stipend of €800.
Central to the Academy’s concept is that trainees will participate in concerts of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra / Bavarian State Philharmonic. Working regularly in an orchestra, young musicians quickly learn to rehearse orchestral repertoire to a high standard and to blend with an existing ensemble. This level of experience can only be gained from working with a top-class orchestra and can not be offered by conservatoires.
Two other core components of the Academy’s programme are the preparation of chamber music works under the supervision of Orchestra members and one-to-one instrumental tuition. Each trainee will be coached by a mentor from the Orchestra but will also be given the opportunity to work intensively with various other players. Trainees will also help to put on chamber music concerts during the course.
