Born in 1982 in Kaiserslautern, Lam Tran Dinh studied conducting at the University for Music and the Arts in Vienna. He continued his training at master classes under, among others, Jorma Panula and Daniel Harding and, in 2009, took part in the 7th ‘Interaktion’ Conducting Workshop at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy in Berlin.
From 1998 to 2003 Lam Tran Dinh played in the Rhineland Palatinate Youth Orchestra, as principal second violin, and in 2008 was awarded a scholarship by the Richard Wagner Association of Bayreuth. 2007-2008 he was Choirmaster of the Klosterneuburg Municipal Choir.
He has gained conducting experience at concerts, competitions and master classes with orchestras like the Pro Arte Orchestra of Vienna, the Lutosławski Philharmonic of Wrocław, the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Nuremberg Symphonic Orchestra. In 2009, he was working as répétiteur, assistant and conductor at an opera production at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn. Recently, he was awarded the Audience Award in the 8th Operetta Competition for Young Conductors in Leipzig.
